2: Invite the team

Book a 1–2 hour slot in your team calendar and get ready to meet on-site or online. Plan and schedule additional sessions if you choose a pre-planned process with multiple team sessions.

3: Play the beam

There’s a reason it’s called a “beam”—it’s designed to be one. This also means it’s made to be simple, requiring minimal preparation while delivering maximum value for the team.

Let’s do this together

Beams are easy ... but only if you do these three things
Make people feel seen — everyone on the team. We feel seen when we are listened to and when what we bring has value.
Encourage team members to share their viewpoints, perspectives, and experiences. Do this by being bold, honest, and by going first when needed.
Show care by following the structure and keeping track of time to ensure that everyone is heard and has roughly the same amount of time to contribute.

Follow The Structure

Follow the structure of the team sessions to ensure everything runs smoothly. Adjust the timing so everyone has a chance to contribute.

Split Large Groups

Discussions can become heavy when too many people are involved. Split into smaller groups, then reconvene to align and check in when working with teams of more than 8 people.

Take action

Keep the fire burning by turning what you learn into action. Assign responsibility for taking action on the things you agree on during the sessions.
